50 Daily Affirmations You Can Say to Make Your Life Happier
Affirmations are a great tool to help cultivate a positive mindset
Using affirmations every day can help you be happier.
Daily affirmations are a powerful tool that you can use to make your life happier. Our minds naturally have a negative bias, so it takes saying something positive 5 times to counteract one negative thing. “According to the work of John Gottman and Robert Levenson, who closely studied the effects of negativity with couples, the suggested ratio is 5:1, meaning that for every negative encounter, there should be a minimum of five positive ones to counterbalance the effects of the first.” (Collective Hub)
This means, we need to work to be sure we are talking to ourselves in a positive manner, so that we aren’t causing ourselves harm through negative talk. There is enough negativity in the world already, we don’t need to be creating more for ourselves.
If you want to change your self-talk from negative to positive, using affirmations is one of the easiest ways to do that! They can be even more powerful if you say them looking at yourself in the mirror.
Another important thing to keep in mind when saying affirmations is that they have to be believable, or your mind is going to reject them. There is a popular Law of Attraction affirmation that circulates everywhere that says, “I will be the first millionaire in my family.” Now, that might be hard for some of us to believe. We could say instead, “I am making more money every day.” Or something similar. You have to tailor it to yourself a little bit so that it feels true.
Personally, I find what works for me, is that every time I think a negative thought I will write an affirmation on an index card to contradict it. For example, if I was thinking that I am a terrible mom, then I will write out something like, “I am becoming a better mom every day.” Then, I keep the index cards at my desk and look through them several times a day. I keep the new one on the top so that I can look at it frequently and counteract my negative thoughts.
Reading affirmations can make your life better every day.

As I said before, you can either use the ones that resonate with you, or you can change the wording a little bit to fit with your situation. Just remember, always phrase your affirmations in a positive way. For example, if you are struggling with feeling like a mess, you could say, “I make my home cleaner every day.” You wouldn’t say, “I don’t leave my house a mess.” Because, even though the sentiment is the same, your mind will still perceive this as being a negative statement.
