Each day of our lives we have the opportunity to make a new start, to live differently, to let go of the past and the things that hold us back from being our true selves. There are so many ideas in our heads about how things ‘should’ be, and we need to let them go to be able to live authentically.
We are programmed by society to live in a certain way, and often that isn’t fulfilling. We climb the ladder. We graduate high school, go to college, start a career, get married and start a family. We follow the social script. But where is that getting us? Are we truly happy?
Are there dreams or goals that you have turned aside in order to fit in with society? Are there pieces of yourself that you have given up over the years to create an image of yourself that other people will like?
There are so many layers to us as people, and oftentimes, it seems like we make lifetime choices when we are too young to understand the ramifications. We choose a career or a mate for life in our 20’s, when we are still trying to figure out ourselves. Sometimes it works out, other times, it fails miserably.
That leads us to reinvention later in life, which can be difficult when you are juggling a mortgage and other bills. It can feel scary to go back to school and start a new career, or to leave a relationship that isn’t working anymore. However, in the long run, sometimes these choices can be for the best.
It is never too late in life to reinvent yourself. Don’t let the years in your past make you feel like there isn’t enough time left for you to make a different choice, and to pursue a different life.
We are all on this journey of life, and we never know where the road is going to take us. Sometimes, an unexpected turn can take you somewhere that is better than you had ever dreamed of.
If there are dreams or goals you want to pursue, make today the day that you start. Let this new week be a new beginning for you. Allow yourself to revision the way you want to live. There is always time to live the life of your dreams, and there is no better day to start than today.
Be well my lovelies,
