LGBTQ+ People Are Not Going Back
We must defend the rights of LGBTQ+ people in the United States
Since today is the first day the US congress is back in session,
has called on fellow writers to publicly voice our support of the LGBTQ+ community and champion their rights. As a fellow member of the LGBTQ+ community, I wish to show my support for our community by standing up and speaking out.We are not going back.
You can read Julia’s newsletter and call to action below:
Planned Action for LGBTQ+ & Allies in Response to Democrats Capitulating on Trans Rights
The rights of transgender and non-binary individuals to express their gender as they choose is a basic human right, and we cannot allow the US government to abandon the commitment to human rights of all citizens.
LGBTQ+ People Are Not Going Back
In my article on this topic, I have written about how the religious right is targeting the LGBTQ+ community by inciting gender-based discrimination. Often, this can lead to gender-based violence as well.
Whether you are LGBTQ+ yourself, or an ally, the time to speak is NOW. Please show your support for LGBTQ+ rights and dignity by posting your own article on this topic today using Julia’s guidelines, write to your congressional representatives, and sharing with your social networks.
The more we can lift our voices for equality and show that there are still those who care and are willing to champion the cause of basic human rights for everyone, the more of a difference we can make. There is strength in numbers, and if we show our strength, we can make an impact that will be felt far into the future.
Thank you,
Nicole Dake
