Millenial Mom (Nicole Dake) Newsletter is Now on Substack
Changing platform to allow better functionality and easier replies
Hi Lovelies,
Instead of using a bulky email provider, I am now moving the monthly newsletter (and other emails that I send you guys) to Substack, where you are receiving this email. It allows easier embeds of links, so you will be able to click through to any articles or videos that I send you easily.
I have been going through some changes personally and with my writing as well this month. So, I am going to be putting a different lens on my writing. I’m not a perfect mother, so my writing on motherhood is going to reflect that better from now on.
If you follow me on Medium, you probably already know that I have been really struggling with having my oldest daughter, Atlantis, so far away in the US.
As moms, letting our kids go their own way can be difficult. She is going to be 20 this month, and is immersed in her own life now. She has a new house, got a promotion at her job, and is managing employees now. So there is a lot of change for her too.
She also got married over the summer, and is now going through a heartbreaking divorce. I had high hopes for her new life as a newlywed, and now that has all been lost. My heart is breaking for her. That makes it harder for me that she is far away.
Also, it isn’t easy for me to visit right now because this is her busy season at work which has her working 12 hour days for the next month. Plus I am starting a new job in 10 days.
Hopefully once things settle down for both of us we will be able to schedule a visit.
I know that usually these aren’t personal updates. There is a lot to look forward to with October and Halloween coming up in the US. Usually I would write something about that.
Since my focus in life is shifting, my focus in my writing is shifting too. I am going to be writing less about parenting how-to’s for a while, because I feel like I am not in the place as a mom to do that right now.
I will still have some how-to articles, but I am going to be writing things that are more raw and real about feelings too, that’s just where I’m at right now.
Also, I have a couple of new e-books in the works too, that I will be writing about more as they come closer to their release.
Let me know what you like hearing from me! Do you want more mental health? Self Improvement and Personal Development? Relationships? Motherhood Struggles? Write back and let me know what you want more of on the blog (and on Medium) so that I can best serve all of you!
Have a wonderful October my friends!
All the best,
Nicole Dake
